2011_05_02 - Day 7 Fla
What a day! After arriving at my planned destination for the day and studying the weather, I decided to keep traveling. It was perfect riding conditions and traffic was almost non-exsistent on many stretches of 441. After arriving at my alternate camp location I felt like I was just getting my second wind. I decided at this point to test my endurance because It never hurts to know ones limitations. As I arrived back into the hills around Blairsville GA., it seemed as though all humanity has dissapeared. I was looking forward to a night run on the Dragon as it's been many years since I've traveled it at night on a motorcycle. I rolled through Robbinsville at about 1 am and I didn't see another vehicle on the road for another 35 miles. The mountain turned out to be treacherous bacause of fallen trees and dedris in the road due high winds. There were also piles of downed trees along the road, probably from last weeks storms. I stopped at the overlook for a while and just listened to the howling wind, then, the fatuge hit me, probably because the warm wind was so relaxing.
All told I rode 766.7 miles today in 20 hours and 30 minutes. Only 95 miles of it was Interstate highway.
